Post-Brexit – Business As Usual
Post-Brexit, armageddon was predicted. But, as with so many doom-mongers, we haven’t seen anarchy on the streets of the UK as yet!
Remember when everyone was predicting a crisis in the year 2000? Named the Y2K bug, computers would explode, digital systems weren’t configured correctly – ordering systems would go haywire. We all waited with bated breath for disaster to strike, and it didn’t happen!
It’s Not All Doom And Gloom
As humans, we have a tendency to gravitate towards gloom. History is littered with examples of doomsday predictions, but as business owners, we’re more inclined to look at a long-term view as markets regulate themselves. And that takes time.
Since the election result, the pound has weakened and strengthened several times. It’s still finding a balance. And let’s be realistic – we haven’t actually left the EU yet. It’s a long-term process that will take several years. And this will allow us all to find alternatives in due course. New customers to meet, markets to explore, new ways of doing things. Like it or not, we find ourselves in this situation, and it pays to make the best of it, and treat it as an opportunity rather than a disaster.
Now the furore is over, when you look at the situation in the cold light of day – nothing immediate has changed for the better or worse. And that means, for Ashcroft Components at least, it’s very much business as usual.
